Love Conquers All.
Devi never felt that she was given love until an unexpected bread was given to her on her first day at a children's home, after going through devastating abuse inflicted upon her by others. Love was nothing more than a foreign concept to her at that time.
Thanks to the dedication of the people she met at the home, she was eventually able to leave her painful past behind and move on from the people who hurted her. It was only possible because of the love she experienced.
Because of these experiences, she recognized the power of love and coined these words as her guiding principle. She eventually devoted herself to sharing her love with others and started a career in the social sector.
Your Start to Life Does Not Determine Your Destination.
Thomas had a rough start due to his broken family and a persistent belief that he would always be a troublemaker. However, during his imprisonment for drug trafficking, he found hope through religion, which gave him a new perspective on life.
Even years after his release, he occasionally wondered if he might have had a better life if he'd had a better start. Nevertheless, he chose to focus on building relationships, helping others, and doing good with his life.
In the end, though it took effort and time to get where he is, he realized that how you start does not determine how you end.
If opportunity doesn't knock,
build a door.
Azhar came across this quote, originally by Milton Berle, around 20 years after his release from prison. Inspired by it, he persevered, continuing to improve himself and even completing two diplomas despite the challenges.
He believed that hardship was a fair price to pay for personal growth, as one cannot wait for opportunities to 'knock' on their door. Instead, he felt it was his responsibility to create opportunities for himself, rather than waiting for them to happen.
